This study examines the attitudes of the residents of the Golden Triangle area (Beaumont-Port Arthur-Orange) toward their lifestyle in Southeast Texas. It focuses on residents’ perceptions of the effects of environmental pollution on their health caused by petrochemical plants. The data for this study was collected through a survey of 3,272 in the Golden Triangle area in 2020. Statistical methods of logistic regression and factor analysis were used to ascertain and analyze if there are significant relationships between the response variables and the set of predictor variables. Variables tested include perceptual and attitudinal variables, such as perceptions about pollution, health hazards, healthcare costs, neighborhoods close to the petrochemical plants, and economic benefits of the new plants. As a result, differences in perceptions regarding the environment, health and economic impacts, and benefits of the petrochemical plants were found across the cohort.
