FITTING A ONE INDEX-PARAMETER LORENZ CURVE MODEL TO MEXICO STATEWIDE DATA

A functional form for modeling the Lorenz curve is fitted to Mexico state income data. The model considered in this work is a one parameter model whose parameter is in itself an equality/inequality index. It is also shown that the index is closely related to Gini’s inequality index.
