INTEGRATING NUMBER THEORY AND GEOMETRY IN TEACHING ALGEBRA USING TEAM ASSISTED INDIVIDUALIZATION: ITS IMPACT TO STUDENTS’ PERFORMANCE

This study uses the Analysis of Variance (ANOVA) as a tool in investigating the impact of integrating number theory and geometry in teaching algebra in Junior High Schools using Team Assisted Individualization (TAI) cooperative learning model. Studies showed that the integrated approach improved the quality of thinking and at the same time enabled the students to acquire permanent and applicable knowledge. Instruments used for data collection were paired sample t-test to determine the level of performance of the students when integrating number theory and geometry in algebra using TAI. Significantly, the results showed that integrating number theory and geometry in teaching algebra in coping anxiety using TAI cooperative learning model have facilitated easy understanding and learning of mathematics.
