In this paper, we present a comprehensive review of recent critiques on the various methodologies employed in the design of control charts. Initially, we provide a succinct overview of the published critiques, summarizing their key points and arguments. Following this, we highlight the primary concerns and flaws identified in these critiques. Our analysis demonstrates that many critiques of the methodologies used in control chart design lack logical coherence or are based on incomplete studies. Additionally, we demonstrate that certain critiques are fundamentally flawed and misleading, which can create causing confusion among professionals working in the field of statistical process control. By addressing these issues, we aim to clear up misconceptions and contribute to the ongoing enhancement of control chart methodologies.
