Abstract

The present study focuses on studying the psychometric properties of the Patient Satisfaction Questionnaire PSQ (18) with 18 items in a Middle Eastern health care environment. This study was a quantitative cross-sectional study where 600 questionnaires were used for eliciting the relevant information through the PSQ (18) by patients from clinical outpatient departments (OPDs) of six private hospitals located in Jeddah. Confirmatory Factor Analysis (CFA) was carried out to study the psychometric properties of the PSQ (18) scale. Kuder Richardson’s Cronbach’s coefficient ‘$\alpha$’ has been used to assess the reliability of the seven dimensions of the PSQ (18) scale. Findings of the study revealed that seven dimensions of the PSQ (18) scale had a good model fit which is valid and reliable for use within the health care context in Saudi Arabia. Comparison of the present findings with the previous results also showed cohesion. Results of the present study provide much-needed impetus for future research in PSQ (18) particularly, within the health care organizations throughout Saudi Arabia and generally in MENA region.
