Abstract

Breast cancer problems are characterized by increased incidence including deaths. The aim of the study is to calculate the 3-year survival rate and average survival time of the breast cancer patients. The survival analysis is performed using Kaplan-Meier method. The Kaplan-Meier estimator is a very popular estimator that provides estimates to determine the average and median survival time. Patients with breast cancers who visited and were still treated at State Cancer Institute, Guwahati during 2016 to 2018 and were followed up until December 2019 are considered. Data consisted of 313 patients and reported deaths were 37. Based on these data, it is seen that the overall 1-year survival rate of the breast cancer patients was 93.9% and 3-year survival rate was 70.8% and the average survival time was 38.092.
