Autism is a complex neural development behavior specified as pervasive developmental disorder. Autism is observed to be prevalent all over the world as well as in Pakistan. The study assessed the basic awareness regarding autism among the general public in different areas of Karachi to highlight the key factors of autism, its causes and treatment by survey method conducted by health care professionals to record the knowledge about autism in a professional manner. This is to be done by the implementation of factor analysis using thirteen attributes for feature selection for the autism spectrum syndrome awareness which results in three basic components: treatment of autism (27.97%), diagnosis of autism (12.24%) and causes for autism (9.56%). The variation explained by these components can play a vital role to enhance the basic awareness about autism to the next level for any autism spectrum disorder awareness programs and campaigns in general masses.
